Gilpin Lodge Hotel

Gilpin Hotel & Lake House has been family owned and run since 1987. The original Georgian country house, built in the 1901 but extensively refurbished, has retained its historic charm, heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, but with modern touches of interior design.  Blending of the old and new gives a timeless balance, and every room is different, including our four dining rooms, which provokes interest, and the sense of journey as guests wander through the hotel.
The main hotel has twenty sumptuous rooms and suites with interiors that are stylish, warm and comfortable with a touch of home (six with their own cedarwood hot tub). For the ultimate luxury, along a quiet country lane nearby, enter through electric gates to discover a Lake District sanctuary – with just six suites, the Lake House is set on a stunningly beautiful four-acre private lake with boat-house, sauna, indoor swimming pool, outdoor cedarwood hot tub and 100 acres of private gardens, countryside and woodland. The Lake House is also available for exclusive use. Relaxed and unhurried, there are no weddings, conferences or children under seven to disturb the peace, just warm smiles, fresh flowers, and friendly, unpretentious service.

Dinner is an important part of the Gilpin experience, and most resident guests dine with us every night. The cuisine is classically based yet thoroughly modern, with emphasis on the use of local produce. It’s imaginative without being silly, and is prepared and served with a great deal of care.  Our wine list features over 200 wines from 13 countries which is built on interest rather than ancient vintages.
