Three Shires Inn

The Three Shires Inn is a  traditional Cumbrian slate property with , 4**** Inn facilities, set in a stunning location in the beautiful Little Langdale Valley, at the heart of the Lake District. Personally run by the Stephenson family since 1983, the name refers to its situation near the meeting point of three county shires - Westmorland, Cumberland and Lancashire. A perfect stop for lunch on walks through the Langdale valleys and for travellers negotiating the Wrynose and Hardknott passes. It has blazing fires in the traditional beamed bars in winter months, whilst the landscaped garden with its magnificent fell views is the place to savour a pint of local ‘Real Ale’ in summer. Everyone – including families with children and dogs – are welcomed in the bar. The award-winning food is freshly prepared using locally sourced Lakeland ingredients.

Three Shires Inn

The Three Shires Inn has 10 individually furnished bedrooms of a high standard. The prettily decorated rooms have beautiful views south over the valley to the partly wooded Tilberthwaite fells. All our rooms offer en-suite accommodation with digital TV, tea making facilities, and CD/radio alarm clocks. There is Wi-Fi for those who wish to bring their own laptop, but mobile phone reception is not always good!
Sit by the fire in the resident's lounge to browse through one of the many local books and maps of the Lake District fells, which are available for guests.

On chilly days there are cosy log fires in the lounge and bar, and in summer a delightful, flower-strewn veranda at the front allows guests to admire views of Wetherlam and Swirl How whilst enjoying a quiet evening drink.
